Jul 16, 2023 · Treebones is a magical place to escape, renew, and connect. My grown son and I take an annual trip together to catch-up. Treebones was the perfect 4 day get-away. The staff is thoughtfully chosen, couples that embrace the retreat environment as a life style choice. On one exploratory trip we found this 10.7 acre parcel known as “Treebones” by the Big Sur locals. Except for the lower flat area, where a 1960’s lumber mill had been, the site had never been built on. It was completely covered in thick, native chaparral. That year was 1986. Big Sur, CA. The Autonomous Tent® at Treebones Resort became an instant success and was sold out almost every night up to a year in advance. After a couple of years, we discussed the option to add a second tent using our latest design.
